Château La Croix St-Estèphe

Château La Croix St-Estèphe 2020

Would the word “extreme” be customary for our vineyard workers? It remains on everyone’s lips, at the twilight of a year punctuated again by climatic records.

The heat, overwhelming throughout the year, ranks 2020 in the top 5 of the earliest vintages of the last 20 years. Whilst the first confinement slowed down the pace of our lives, that of the vine accelerated, with an early bud break compared to 2018 and 2019 and a homogeneous flowering three weeks earlier than usual.

It is under a blazing sun that the harvest began on September 14th, 10 days earlier than average. However, the water reserves built up in autumn and winter helped the plant to keep its best promise: generous Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons that have retained their elegance. 2020 is a perfectly balanced vintage, with vibrant fruit and tender tannins.

Jebdunnuck.com Jeb Dunnuck : 89 "The second wine of Château Le Crock, the 2020 Château La Croix offers a medium-bodied, charming, forward style as well as ripe cherry and darker currant fruit, supple tannins, and a good finish. It's a delicious, balanced, satisfying Saint-Estèphe to drink over the coming 7-8 years." 29.03.2023
