Château Le Crock 2020

Would the word “extreme” be customary for our vineyard workers? It remains on everyone’s lips, at the twilight of a year punctuated again by climatic records.

The heat, overwhelming throughout the year, ranks 2020 in the top 5 of the earliest vintages of the last 20 years. Whilst the first confinement slowed down the pace of our lives, that of the vine accelerated, with an early bud break compared to 2018 and 2019 and a homogeneous flowering three weeks earlier than usual.

It is under a blazing sun that the harvest began on September 14th, 10 days earlier than average. However, the water reserves built up in autumn and winter helped the plant to keep its best promise: generous Merlots and Cabernet Sauvignons that have retained their elegance. 2020 is a perfectly balanced vintage, with vibrant fruit and tender tannins.

Press

Inside Bordeaux Jane Anson : 94 "Same family as Léoville Poyferré, the Cuveliers, in their hands since 1903. A seriously enjoyable wine, with dark brambled, damson and blackberry fruits, fresh mint leaf, plenty of graphite, crayon, serious and strctured but with juice. Great value, one to track down. " 17.02.2023
Vinous Media Antonio Galloni : 93 "The 2020 Le Crock is dense, rich and super-concentrated. It’s a style that works so well for this wine. Ripe red plum, tobacco, cedar, mint, dried herbs, blood orange and white pepper all run through this gorgeous, wonderfully inviting Saint-Estèphe. Savory and earthy notes frame the finish very nicely. The 2020 is an absolute delight." 24.02.2023
